Shackerstone Festival 2010

A simple text message of Eric, asking if I was interested in going to the Shackerstone Festival on Sunday, where I would see the Red Arrows, lead to a very good day out with more to see (and photograph) than I though.

With no work for a while this event would be the first time this year that I had seen the Red Arrows, who had been forced to cancel many of their engagements following an accident earlier in the year.

So after Duncan and Eric picked me up, then Suzy and Steve, the five of us headed for the festival.

A Calke(ing) Day Out

I am going to try not to make any deer jokes.

Well a later start than normal, the big advantage with Calke Abbey so nearby.  It is a place that I have heard about, but never visited.  Many thanks to Pippa for organising it and Bill for his guidance (and exceptional eye sight).

The full group made it, so off we go.

After a short walk I fell for the idea of a little macro photography, but soon changed my mind.

Bill certainly knew his stuff about deer, and passed some of this on to us during the tour.  I had taken photographs of deer before but on the other side of the wire whilst working at Castle Donnington.

Wales Meet Again

Sorry I could not resist that !

Well time for us to visit beautiful Wales, and try to capture some of its beauty.

This time there was only five of us; Steve, Jim, Eric, Pippa and Me.  Jim brought along Layla for some portrait photography.  Steve drove me there, thanks again Steve,  whilst the others went with Jim, who had to pick up Layla.

First of all we met at a wood just outside of New Quay, where we found some derelict old stone buildings and a small river, so some good photographic subjects here.  There were some dodgy looking characters as well !

 

 

Next, we walked to the first of the three beaches we were to visit, whilst in Wales.

One thing we were hoping to capture was a sunset, but even though the weather had been beautiful during the day, towards the end of the day it became a little hazy, which prevented us capturing a beautiful sunset, this is the best I could get:

London 2010

Well, an early start, but I am getting used to these.

A little snow had fell recently, but nothing can stop a photographer, we hope !

So in one car was Ruth, her son and girlfriend, Eric and Me, in the other Steve, Jim, Suzy and Pippa.  Becky met us down there, so it was eight photographers in London.

Where do photographers stop for a break, only one place the Photographer's Gallery.

We visited some of the famous, and well photographed parts of London, including Big Ben and some building next to it, I think it was a theatre.

Well, more looking around and more and more well known locations, this time a more modern icon of London
